1. Who We Are

Silver Circle is a private alumni platform for the SJC Class of 2001. It includes our website, mobile application, and related services that help members reconnect, view profiles, share stories, browse galleries, follow updates, and participate in reunion activities.

2. Information We Collect

• Account and profile information such as your name, email address, location, occupation, profile details, reunion status, and contribution-related data.
• Content you submit, including stories, comments, reactions, photos, profile images, family details, memories, and access-request information.
• Face templates derived from photographs of you, used only to suggest member tags within the community. See section 9.
• Technical and device information such as browser type, app version, operating system, IP address, log data, and diagnostic information used to improve reliability and security.
• Push notification tokens if you choose to enable notifications on your device.
• Authentication and session data needed to sign you in securely and keep your account protected.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Operate, maintain, and secure the Silver Circle website and mobile app.
• Authenticate members, manage accounts, and protect the community from misuse.
• Display member profiles, directory entries, stories, galleries, and community activity.
• Send important service communications, community updates, and optional push notifications.
• Improve app performance, fix bugs, analyze usage, and support reunion planning.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to legitimate requests or disputes.

4. Community Visibility

Silver Circle is a private community platform. Some profile information, stories, comments, reactions, and uploaded media may be visible to other authenticated members. Please share only the information you are comfortable making available within the SJC 2001 community.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information.

• Trusted service providers and infrastructure partners who help us run the Services.
• Other authenticated members, but only for content and profile data that is intended to be visible within the community.
• Authorities or legal parties when required by law or necessary to protect the rights, safety, and security of the platform and its users.
• A successor organization in the unlikely event of a merger, transfer, or restructuring of the service.

6. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Services, maintain community records, support reunion activities, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and meet legal obligations. Backups and security logs may be retained for a limited period.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials private.

8. App Permissions

• Photos or media library access if you choose to upload profile or gallery images.
• Notifications if you choose to receive app updates and activity alerts.
• Biometric authentication such as Face ID, fingerprint, or device-supported unlock if you enable biometric sign-in.

9. Facial Recognition and Photo Tagging

To help members find themselves and their batchmates in our galleries, Silver Circle uses an automated facial recognition service (Amazon Rekognition) to detect faces in photographs uploaded to the platform and suggest which member each face belongs to. This processing produces a mathematical representation of a face — a face template — which is stored alongside your member record so that future photographs can be matched against it.

Face templates are derived from member profile photographs and from photographs uploaded to community galleries. They are used for one purpose only: suggesting member tags on photos inside this private community. They are never used for identity verification, surveillance, advertising, or any form of automated decision-making about you, and they are never sold or shared with anyone outside the service providers who operate this feature on our behalf.

Suggested tags are reviewed by administrators before they are applied, and any member may ask to have a tag removed. Depending on where you live, a face template may be treated as biometric information under local law.

• You may ask us not to index your face at all, in which case you will not be suggested as a tag on any photograph.
• You may ask us to delete the face templates already derived from your photographs; we will remove them and stop generating new ones.
• You may ask us to remove any individual photo tag that identifies you.
• Face templates are deleted when your account is deleted, and when the underlying photograph is deleted.

10. Your Choices

• You may review and update profile information from your account where those tools are available.
• You may disable notifications or biometric access from your device or app settings.
• You may request help correcting, updating, or removing information by contacting us.
• You may request account deletion, and you may ask us to stop using facial recognition on your photographs. See sections 9 and 11.

11. Account Deletion

Silver Circle accounts are created and managed by batch administrators; there is no public sign-up. You may ask for your account and associated data to be deleted at any time.

To request deletion, email admin@sjcbatch2001.com from the address associated with your membership, or open the Silver Circle app and go to Settings → Delete account → Request account deletion, which prepares the same email for you. We confirm every request with you before acting on it, and we complete verified requests within 30 days.

• Deleted on request: your login credentials and session data, your profile details and profile photograph, any face templates derived from your photographs, your stories, comments and reactions, your uploaded gallery and trip album media, and your push notification tokens.
• Retained where we must: records we are required to keep by law, and financial records of reunion or trip contributions and expense settlements, which are shared community records other members rely on to reconcile shared costs. Where a shared record must be kept, your identifying details are removed from it wherever doing so does not break the record.
• Backups and security logs may retain residual copies for a limited period before they age out on their normal cycle.

12. Children’s Privacy

Silver Circle is intended for adult alumni and invited community participants. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date on this page. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
